Auf ein Wort mit Bob's Guide - Mirco

We are delighted to introduce you to another guide from Bob's Flies: Mirco Tiri! Mirco is starting his eighth year as a fly-only fly fisherman, and we are thrilled to welcome him to the Bob's family. He will tell you himself how he got into fly fishing and about a defining moment in Iceland.

Bob's Guide - Mirco Tiri

As a young boy, I spent many hours by the water with my father. The diversity of the water fascinated me, and I always had to stop at rivers to look for fish (which is still the case today). As an adult, my interest grew, and I decided to take up fishing again at my then-current residence on Lake Constance. After quickly moving back home, I discovered the passion of fly fishing through friends.

The challenge lies in being in the right place at the right time with the right fly. Reading the water correctly, withdrawing from everyday life, and creating a meditative oasis – that, for me, is the beauty of fly fishing.

Never lose hope!

After three days of trout fishing in Iceland, I spent three days at a salmon lake. It rained and blew for three days straight, with temperatures hovering around freezing. During those three days, I didn't get a single bite on my fly, despite changing flies constantly. But an hour before my departure, I mustered the energy for one last cast and landed the Atlantic salmon I'd been hoping for.
